i finally watched on tv "a separation", the 2011 iranian film that garnered praise and awards. i was 80% fixated at the time still with some multitasking sneaked in. gender and class inequality and discrimination feature throughout the film. it was acknowledged, but not blown out of proportion as depicted in western media. putting the fictive narrative with the unfortunate real life event of the bombing/murder of a leading iranian nuclear scientist just last week, my curiosity for this land of civilization only get more intense. in case you didn’t know, iran and russia helped the very messy war in syria from going any worse that it was. when people utter diversity, understanding, differences, etc. it carries little meaning if we are still bounded by the hot-air fanned by mainstream media. go watch this movie, dig deeper into this country’s culture, history, archaeology and what not. you will be pleasantly surprised.
